Network File Storage (NFS) FAQs
Network File Storage (NFS) is a managed service that provides shared storage for multiple virtual machines in your virtual data centre. The NFS protocol (Network File System) is used to access the data, allowing for fast and efficient data access. Combined with the cloud, NFS offers high performance and security, making it ideal for sensitive data. NFS is a great option for secure file sharing between VMs.
The IONOS Network File Storage delivers top-notch performance. Built on the latest NFSv4.2 protocol, it offers Linux clients read speeds of up to 24,000 IOPS per TB and write speeds of up to 18,000 IOPS per TB. Both IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) and throughput (512 MB/s per TB bandwidth) scale linearly for maximum efficiency.
Network File Storage is the best choice for shared storage across multiple virtual machines within a single virtual data centre. IONOS Object Storage is ideal for large volumes of unstructured data because of its scalability, while Block Storage is perfect for frequently accessed data (like from applications). Unlike Object Storage and Block Storage, which charge by the GB, NFS/File Storage charges by the TB.
